Tussock Hill wines are crafted with the utmost respect for the fruit and the land, using organic practices in the vineyard and winery. Our winemakers use minimal intervention allowing our fruit and terroir to fully express itself in our wine.
We grow a variety of grapes including Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Riesling. Pinot Noir grows on each of our Tussock Hill vineyards and so we are able to make vintages from each block to compare and contrast terroir.
We use a variety of livestock and biodiverse plantings to improve soil quality throughout our vineyards. With minimal organic sprays used throughout the growing season.
Our Terroir
North Canterbury Wine Region
North Canterbury is internationally recognised as one of the premier wine growing regions of New Zealand. It is home to over 90 vineyards and located an hour from Christchurch City. The region enjoys spectacular land formations and soil types.
The Tussock Hill Home Vineyard is located on the sun drenched volcanic soils of the Port Hills. This contrasts with the clay and limestone soils of our Waipara Vineyard and enables us to create wines that are uniquely different and expressive of their terroir.
